How to Prevent and Remove Odors in Food Cold Storage?
2024-10-08
How can we prevent odors from occurring in food cold storages?
First of all, before putting food into the cold storage, there should be no peculiar smell. If there is an odor in the cold storage, the odor must be removed before putting in food.
Secondly, before putting refrigerated food into the cold storage, it is necessary to check whether there is any deteriorated food. Only when there is no deteriorated food can it be put into the cold storage.
Thirdly, the food in the cold storage should be placed neatly.

Fourthly, the cold storage must always maintain the required temperature to prevent food from deteriorating and producing odors due to different temperatures.
In daily use of cold storages, we should pay attention to maintenance. For example, close the door immediately when entering or leaving the cold storage, and place food neatly when putting it in.

Methods for eliminating odors in food cold storages:
Formaldehyde method: If the cold storage stores food with a relatively high fat content, to remove the odor, the food in the cold storage must be taken out first, and disinfected and deodorized with 2% formalin solution.

Vinegar method: For food cold storages that have stored fish, the fishy smell is very strong. The fishy smell must be completely removed before other food can be loaded. Vinegar is a relatively good method to remove the fishy smell.
Ozone method: If a cold storage for general food has an odor, ozone with a strong oxidation effect can be used to eliminate the odor in the cold storage, and at the same time, it can also inhibit the growth of microorganisms. (But at this time, it should be noted that if the cold storage stores food with a relatively high fat content, ozone treatment is not suitable to avoid rancidity caused by fat oxidation.)
