Working Principle of AC Inverter and DC Inverter Air Conditioners
2024-10-07
At present, there are two types of frequency conversion air conditioners on the market. One is an AC frequency conversion air conditioner, and the other is a DC frequency conversion air conditioner. The main difference between them lies in that the compressor of an AC frequency conversion air conditioner uses an AC frequency conversion motor, while the compressor of a DC frequency conversion air conditioner uses a DC frequency conversion motor.
DC frequency conversion air conditioners can be divided into two types. One type only uses a DC frequency conversion motor for the compressor. The other type uses DC frequency conversion motors not only for the compressor but also for indoor fans and outdoor fans.

- AC frequency conversion
The AC frequency conversion motor is essentially a three-phase AC asynchronous motor.
When working, the stator winding of the motor generates a rotating magnetic field, and the rotor winding generates an induced magnetic field under the action of the rotating magnetic field. Then, the rotating magnetic field of the stator and the induced magnetic field of the rotor interact to make the rotor operate.
Since there is electromagnetic induction between the stator and the rotor of the AC frequency conversion motor, the motor has electromagnetic noise during operation, and the rotor winding has electromagnetic loss. - DC frequency conversion
The DC frequency conversion motor is a brushless DC motor. Its rotor is composed of a permanent magnet, and the stator is composed of windings. When working, the rotating magnetic field generated by the stator winding directly acts on the fixed magnetic field of the permanent magnet rotor to realize the operation of the motor.
The brushless DC frequency conversion motor is still essentially an AC motor. Therefore, the concept of "DC frequency conversion motor" is not very rigorous. Direct current has no frequency to speak of, so there is no frequency conversion.
This is a schematic diagram of the principle of the frequency converter driving the DC frequency conversion motor to operate in a DC frequency conversion air conditioner.
There is no electromagnetic induction between the stator and the rotor of the DC frequency conversion motor, so it overcomes the electromagnetic noise of the AC frequency conversion motor and the electromagnetic loss of the rotor. Compared with AC frequency conversion motors, it has the advantages of high efficiency and low noise.
