Common Malfunctions in the Operation of Cold Storage
2025-01-11
During the operation of a cold storage, it is possible that the refrigeration effect fails to meet expectations. In many cases, this is caused by an inaccurate calculation of the equipment's refrigeration capacity during the construction of the cold storage. Some problems occur after the cold storage has been in use for a period of time.
The main phenomena are as follows: large cold loss, decreased heat transfer efficiency, excessive or insufficient refrigerant flow in the cold storage, insufficient refrigeration capacity, the refrigeration capacity not meeting the requirements of the storage, or an unreasonable configuration of the evaporator area.
The above - mentioned phenomena in the cold storage are mainly caused by the following situations:
- The cold storage has poor insulation or sealing performance.
- The surface of the evaporator in the cold storage is too thickly frosted or has excessive dust accumulation.
- There is too much air or refrigeration oil in the evaporator.
- The throttle valve is improperly adjusted or blocked, that is, the expansion valve is blocked or semi - blocked.
- The refrigerant amount in the system is insufficient, and the compressor efficiency is low.
The configuration of the cold storage is a crucial issue. If the refrigeration capacity of the cold storage is not estimated adequately at the initial construction stage, even if thorough maintenance and upkeep are carried out during the later operation, it will be of no avail. Therefore, cold storage engineering companies generally require customers to consider clearly the specific items to be stored and the storage methods, etc., and leave a certain margin for the refrigeration capacity of the cold storage. This ensures that the cold storage can still be used normally even if the customer makes minor changes to the way the cold storage is used.
