Differences Between Steel Structure Cold Storages and Multi-story Civil Engineering Cold Storages
2024-11-23
Advantages of single-story steel structure cold storage:
- High turnover rate for goods in and out, saving time resources.
- Advantage in construction cost. Compared with civil construction cold storage from the perspective of cost, the cost of single-story steel structure is lower than that of multi-story civil construction cold storage with the same capacity.

- Large utilization of space. There is no limit to the height of the single-story steel structure cold storage body, which can reach 20 or 30 meters. Shelf automation is adopted inside the storage, and the utilization rate is high (there are many columns in multi-story civil construction cold storage).
- Short construction period.
Disadvantages of single-story steel structure cold storage:
- Short service life (currently, there is no case where the service life of a single-story steel structure cold storage exceeds 15 years), and it occupies a large area.
Disadvantages of multi-story civil construction cold storage:
- Long construction period;
- Low turnover rate (for large cold storage);
- Low overall capacity utilization rate (there are many dead corners caused by columns);
- The investment cost in civil construction is about 30% higher than that of single-story steel structure cold storage.

Advantages of multi-story civil construction cold storage:
- Long service life (currently, the service time of multi-story civil construction cold storage has reached 23 years and it is still in use).
