What are the reasons for the inactivity of the automotive air conditioning compressor? What are the common faults?
2024-12-03
The reasons why the automobile compressor doesn't work are as follows:
- Severe internal wear of the compressor, which leads to the compressor's inability to work properly.

- Belt slipping, resulting in the compressor not working.
- Refrigerant leakage leads to a lack of system pressure, triggering the compressor protection switch and causing the compressor not to work.
- Failure of the automobile air conditioner's temperature sensor, resulting in the compressor not working, etc.
Detailed analysis of the reasons why the automobile air conditioner compressor doesn't work:
- Severe internal wear of the compressor makes it unable to work properly.

It should be noted that the compressor plays a crucial role in the air conditioning system. Its main job is to compress and deliver cool air, which means the compressor will be in a state of high-speed rotation for a long time. So this is also one of the reasons why the compressor can't work normally.
- Check whether there is any leakage of the refrigerant. Without the compression or delivery of cool air, it certainly won't work.
- Circuit system failures that cause the automobile air conditioner compressor to fail to work properly are also very common. People can check whether the circuit is in good condition and examine the temperature sensor and solenoid valve.
Other failure reasons for the automobile air conditioner compressor not working:
(1) Due to the looseness of the plugs on the control circuit lines of the air conditioner compressor, poor contact is caused. The voltage supplied to the electromagnetic coil drops and the current becomes unstable, resulting in the electromagnetic clutch of the air conditioner compressor sometimes engaging and sometimes disengaging. If it works like this for a long time, the clutch and the electromagnetic coil will surely be burned out.
(2) The clearance of the electromagnetic clutch of the air conditioner compressor is generally designed to be 0.35 - 0.50 mm. If the clutch clearance is less than the specified value and is affected by the engine temperature at the same time, the clutch steel plate of the air conditioner compressor installed beside the engine will undergo thermal expansion, resulting in an overly small clutch clearance. This makes it impossible for the clutch to disengage or causes it to slip after the air conditioner is turned off. In this way, it is also easy to burn out the electromagnetic coil, bearings, clutch and components in the refrigeration system.
